In a heartwarming celebration at the Male Correctional Facility in Windhoek, Letshego Bank Namibia, alongside Prison Fellowship Namibia (PFN) and various partners, joined hands to unite inmates with their families during the annual Angel Tree initiative.  The event, attended by almost 100 family members, saw inmates receive gifts to exchange with their loved ones, bringing warmth to the correctional setting. The children, who were primarily recipients of gifts from their incarcerated fathers,  were overwhelmed with joy.

Ester Kali, the CEO of Letshego Bank, emphasised the importance of supporting imprisoned individuals as part of the broader government efforts toward rehabilitation, which has a transformative impact on the lives of inmates and their families.  Letshego is pleased to share in the initiative that underscores the importance of family, hope, and inclusivity," she remarked.

As a PFN Board member, Toni Tommasi thanked all sponsors for their collective efforts in sustaining this initiative.  "The festive season, while typically a time of joy and reflection for many, can be particularly challenging for those in prison who are separated from loved ones," he noted.  Tommasi highlighted the Angel Tree initiative as a beacon of empathy.  We create an inclusive and compassionate community by providing gifts and support to the children of those in prison.  The positive impact on families, particularly children, is immeasurable."

PFN, one of the largest Prison Ministries Worldwide, focuses on restoring prisoners' dignity, assisting their families, and contributing to ex-offenders' rehabilitation and reintegration into society.  The organisation relies on donations, fundraising projects, and voluntary monthly contributions from members to successfully execute activities such as monthly church services, family visits and support, collection of Bibles, books, clothing, toiletries, training, and aftercare of ex-offenders under the Angel Tree initiative umbrella.

Last year, the Angel Tree initiative brought joy to the Windhoek Female Correctional Facility, where 19 mothers and 29 children were treated with gifts.
